Laura Kearney, LCPC
I received my undergraduate degree from DePaul University and holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I have also received training in Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Exposure & Response Prevention Planning (ERP), Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), and Introduction to Radically Open Behavioral Therapy (RO-DBT).
Many clients I work with are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma related issues, relational/trust issues, low self-esteem, perfectionism, and shame. Others are seeking support with life transitions, stress management, work/life balance and career transitions. And often (but not always) we can trace many of these difficulties back to childhood or traumatic experiences and the self-limiting core beliefs they created.
My approach to therapy integrates multiple therapeutic modalities. I help clients to identify their areas of concern and their personal values so that treatment, supports and resources can be matched to the client’s unique needs and strengths, and our work together can focus on healing, resilience and moving you closer to achieving your goals.
I understand that the decision to ask for help can be so difficult. I believe that therapy can and should be one “baby step” at a time. I hope that you will take that first small step for yourself, and know that our work together will focus on collaboration, authenticity and trust, in an environment that is inclusive, warm, non-judgmental, and safe.
your healing journey today.
