About Darren
Focus: Individual, couples, and family therapy for adults and adolescents living with depression, anxiety, mood regulation, substance use or process addictions, grief, trauma, relational concerns, and life transitions.
My empathy, compassion, warmth, and humor enable me to foster rich therapeutic alliances with clients that promote personal growth and change. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults in individual, group, couples, and family settings to collaboratively identify goals that empower clients’ intrinsic ability to cope with life’s stresses. My therapeutic style integrates a client-centered approach with evidenced based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapies, Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic interventions.
I received my undergraduate degree from DePaul University and earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in the treatment of addictions from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. As a therapist I have had the privilege of helping individuals living with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, drug and alcohol addiction, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), relationship concerns, grief, and life transitions. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, board certified with the National Board of Certified Counselors, and am a member of the Illinois Mental Health Counselors Association.
