About Betsy
Focus: Individual and group therapy related to trauma, domestic violence, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and reproductive health issues including infertility, pregnancy, and transition to parenthood.
Biography: As a licensed clinical social worker with a background in social justice work, Betsy believes that unhappiness can stem from both internal and external factors, and change can happen on both the individual and environmental level. Betsy has done clinical work with people from diverse backgrounds, and has a passion for working with individuals who have experienced trauma, including complex, ongoing trauma. In addition she is particularly interested in the mental health and well-being of women during their childbearing years, with expertise in issues including contraception and abortion, infertility and pregnancy loss, and healthy pregnancy, childbirth and transition to parenthood Betsy received her Masters of Arts in Clinical Social Work from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration. She uses a cognitive behavioral approach that is both strengths-based and trauma-informed, and incorporates evidence-based practices, empathy, and humor. Betsy considers it a privilege to hear clients’ stories and walk with them towards a place of change and healing.
